A six hour supply of goods ready for redistribution from the Hunger Center to the local needy

Award Winning
Saint George Parish serves the local inner city community by distributing over 100,000 pounds of food annually to the needy.

Did you know that our Parish Hunger Center was very busy all of last year?  We distributed over 100,000 pounds of food.  That comes out to enough food to provide over 100,000 meals for the poor in our community.  To put this into perspective, that is enough food to feed a family of five people for over 18 years!  We thank those who donate to our Hunger Center and we are looking for additional volunteers to help us with this program.  If anyone can help with our Hunger Program, please contact Father Bacevice, Virginia Rubinski, Marie Hudgins or Julie Vaitkus.

If you have canned goods or other items for the needy
please call the parish Hunger Center at:

a i nt Geo rge (Lit hua nian ) Chu rch, is a Per sonal Parish (non-territorial) in the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland. Saint George Church was originally called to serve, first as a Mission in 1895, then as a Parish in 1901, the needs of Lithuanian Immigrants in the Diocese of Cleveland and continues to serve this purpose.  Desiring to carry out this original mission, yet open to the realities of the present age, we as a Parish exist today, primarily to meet the Spiritual Needs of all who wish to be a part of our community, by providing a suitable place for celebrating the Pascal Mystery in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, celebrating the sacraments of the Church, offering comfort in times of sorrow, offering counsel to those in need, and offering social programs, all for the purpose of building up the Body of Christ as it is embodied in the Community of St. George Church. Membership in our Parish Community is open to all Catholics, regardless of race or nationality, who wish to be a part of our Community. Being an ethnic Community, we are sensitive to the special needs of ethnic peoples for worship in their native tongue, for socialization with others of their ethnic background, and for the preservation of their cultural heritage. We as a community are also keenly aware of the suffering which results from the vicious cycle of poverty within the geographic area of our Church facilities. As part of our vocation as Christians and as Catholics, we spend considerable energy reaching out to all who approach us in need, encouraging members to share with those who are in true need. We also realize our position as a long-standing institution in our geographic area, and as part of our vocation as a Catholic Parish Community, we work with other community groups to make our geographic area a better place to live. Above all, we are a prayerful, joyful, and hopeful community, striving to improve our own spiritual lives and the lives of those around us.
